Our Story
Twelfth Night
The creators of the hit comedy Drunk Shakespeare wanted quality, quirky shirts for men and women — the kind you could wear to dinner, to the theater, or to a bar at midnight without ever explaining yourself. We couldn’t find them. So we made our own.
Drunk Shakespeare has run off-Broadway since 2014, with companies now in five cities. Along the way we learned exactly who shows up — what they read, what they drink, and what they want to put on after work.
They wanted shirts that read as plain at ten paces and rewarded a closer look at three. A line from Macbeth on the inside placket. A sonnet number stitched at the cuff.
Every piece carries a fragment — a half-line, a stage direction, a flourish — placed where only the wearer is certain to find it. The collar. The cuff. The inside hem.
The shirts are cut for grown men and women, in mid-weight cottons and linens, sewn in small batches. We stop when the run is done.
The plays end. The bar fills. Somewhere between the second curtain and the last call, a certain kind of evening begins. That’s the hour these were built for.
We’re a small house out of Brass Jar Productions — the same company that puts the show on stage. Independently owned. Slow on purpose.
